Govt allocates Rs 21.72 billion for health sector projects

The government has allocated an amount of Rs 21.72 billion for 20 on-going and 26 new projects in the health sector under Public Sector Development Programme 2021-22.

According to the budget document, out of the total allocated amount, an amount of Rs 13.07 billion has been allocated for out-going projects while Rs 8.65 billion has been allocated for new projects.

An amount of Rs 5600 million has been earmarked for Sehat Sahulat Program Prime Minister’s National Health Insurance Program phase-II while Rs 2206.820 million has been allocated for the projects for the extension of the Intensive Care Department of Mother and Child Health Center and Children Hospital, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), Islamabad.

As per PSDP official document, an amount of Rs 2000 million has been allocated for the establishment of 200 beds hospital, SW Islamabad including feasibility while an amount of Rs 1750 million has been allocated for the establishment of 200 beds Accident and Emergency Centre at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, Islamabad including feasibility.

An amount of Rs 1639.900 million has been earmarked for the establishment of a 200 bed Centre of Excellence for Gynecology and Obstetrics, Rawalpindi while an amount of Rs 1000 million has been allocated for the establishment of Federal Government Polyclinic (PGMI)-II at G-11/3, Islamabad including feasibility.

Similarly, an amount of Rs 879 million has been allocated for the replacement and up-gradation of HVAC plant room equipment and allied works at PIMS, Islamabad while an amount of Rs 750 million has been allocated for the development of the Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response System (IDSRS) with Public Health Laboratories Network (PHLN) and Workforce Development for transition of Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (FELTP).

An amount of Rs 713.152 million has been allocated for the up-gradation of the rural health facilities and strengthening of the health department for effective health care provision. An amount of Rs 500 million has been allocated for the up-gradation Neurosurgery Department and provision of essential equipment in Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, Islamabad.
